Off the Grid – April 14, 2023 @ 7PM
April 14, 2023 @ 7:00 pm
If you can no longer speak, can you still truly connect?
Featuring the Theatre Arts & Performance graduating ensemble
Co-presented by Centennial College Theatre Arts and Performance & ReDefine Arts
Off The Grid is a devised theatre piece inspired by “The Quiet World”, a poem written by Jeffery McDaniel, and is brought together by third-year graduating students from Centennial College’s Theatre Arts and Performance program.
Off The Grid follows a group of theatre artists in A-Topia, a post-apocalyptic virtual world. On the opening night of the ensemble’s show “The End,” they are interrupted by a government announcement that limits people to 167 words of spoken language per day. Every cast member is the main character in their own story with unique motives and struggles from loss of social status to intimacy.
Will they deliver their show and save their lives or will they create yet another dystopian future? If you can no longer speak, can you still truly connect?
